Integrated Math Classroom Management and Discipline Plan

Mission Statement

The goal of this classroom is to create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment where all students can develop their mathematical skills, collaborate with others, and reach their academic potential. Students are expected to take responsibility for their learning and contribute positively to the classroom community.

Classroom Expectations

Students are expected to follow these four classroom rules every day:

1. Be Respectful

• Treat classmates, teachers, and classroom materials with respect.

• Listen when others are speaking.

• Use appropriate language and behavior.

2. Be Responsible

• Arrive on time and prepared for class.

• Bring required materials daily.

• Complete and submit assignments on time.

3. Be Engaged

• Participate actively in class discussions and activities.

• Ask questions when clarification is needed.

• Stay focused on learning tasks.

4. Be Safe

• Follow all classroom and school safety procedures.

• Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.

• Maintain a positive learning environment.

Daily Materials

Students should bring:

• Notebook or binder

• Pencil and eraser

• Chromebook (fully charged)

• Calculator (when required)

• Graph paper or math journal

• Completed assignments

Classroom Procedures

Beginning of Class

1. Enter quietly and take your assigned seat.

2. Retrieve necessary materials.

3. Begin the warm-up activity displayed on the board.

4. Be ready to learn when instruction begins.

During Instruction

• Follow directions the first time they are given.

• Participate in discussions and group activities.

• Keep electronic devices used only for academic purposes.

• Raise your hand and wait to be called on.

End of Class

• Complete and submit exit tickets when assigned.

• Organize materials and record homework.

• Clean your work area before leaving.

Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy

• Cell phones, earbuds, and other personal electronic devices must remain off and out of sight unless authorized for instructional purposes.

• Unauthorized use may result in:

  • Warning

  • Confiscation according to school policy

  • Parent/guardian contact

  • Referral to administration if behavior continues

Academic Honesty

Students are expected to complete their own work.

Cheating, copying assignments, unauthorized use of technology, or plagiarism may result in:

• Loss of credit

• Parent contact

• Administrative referral when appropriate

Collaboration is encouraged when approved by the teacher, but each student must demonstrate individual understanding.

Positive Reinforcement

Students who consistently meet expectations may receive:

• Positive verbal recognition

• Positive parent communication

• Participation incentives

• Classroom rewards and privileges

• Opportunities for leadership roles

Progressive Discipline Plan

The purpose of discipline is to correct behavior and maintain a productive learning environment.

Step 1: Nonverbal Reminder

• Teacher proximity

• Eye contact

• Gentle redirection

Step 2: Verbal Warning

• Clear reminder of the expectation

• Opportunity to correct behavior

Step 3: Teacher Conference

• Private conversation with student

• Reflection on behavior and expectations

Step 4: Parent/Guardian Contact

• Phone call, email, or conference

• Development of an improvement plan

Step 5: Referral to Administration

• Continued or severe misbehavior may result in administrative intervention according to school policies.

Serious Behaviors

The following behaviors may result in immediate administrative referral:

• Fighting

• Bullying or harassment

• Threats

• Vandalism

• Possession of prohibited items

• Repeated defiance

• Any action that compromises safety

Attendance and Tardies

Attendance

Regular attendance is essential for success in mathematics. Students are responsible for obtaining and completing all missed work due to absences.

Tardies

Students should be in their seats and ready to work when the bell rings. Repeated tardiness will be addressed according to school policy.

Student Commitment

As an Integrated Math student, I will:

• Come prepared to learn.

• Respect others and their ideas.

• Participate actively.

• Persevere through challenging problems.

• Take responsibility for my actions and learning.

By following these expectations, we can create a classroom where everyone feels supported, respected, and successful.
