2026/2027 TECHNOLOGY ORIENTATION FOR GRADES 6-12

The BPS Middle and High School Technology Orientation for 2026-2027 (Grades 6-12) provides essential information for BPS families on the 1:1 iPad Learning Program in Burlington. All students and families in grades 6-12 should watch the Technology Orientation video and read the iPad Statement of Responsibility (below). 

This orientation video includes details about:

• The BPS iPad Care Program

• Support for educational technology

• The importance of your child's Google account and password

• The district's Mobile Device Management System

• Essential apps for learning including Google Classroom and Google Workspace apps

• The district's commitment to protecting student data and privacy

iPad Care Program for Grades 6-12 iPads: 

• Students must report any damage or loss to their homeroom teacher

• Homeroom teacher will place a technology support ticket for the student

• BPS IT Team will replace the damaged device (if deemed accidental) 

• Student/Parent/Guardian will be responsible for a $50 deductible upon every accidental damage incident 

• The deductible will be charged for both iPads and Keyboard Cases

• Parents will be informed via ParentSquare

• BPS does not offer an optional insurance program for iPads and there is no need to sign up for insurance

• Full financial responsibility ($400) for any destruction or vandalism of an iPad and Keyboard Case deemed malicious by the school district as well as loss of the device

• Families don’t need to do anything right now. The only time you will need to take action is if you receive a ParentSquare notification that your child has a damaged iPad or Keyboard Case. You will then receive instructions on how to pay for the $50 deductible for accidental damage so that your child will receive a replacement. 

• Families will also be notified if any damage is deemed to be malicious or caused by vandalism
