Scholarships

Scholarships are one of the best ways to help pay for college because they do not have to be repaid. Students should begin researching scholarship opportunities early and pay close attention to application requirements and deadlines.

Arkansas Scholarships and Grants

The Arkansas Division of Higher Education offers numerous scholarships and grant programs through the Scholarship Application Management System (SAMS). The SAMS application opens each year on October 1. Students should create an account and apply as early as possible to ensure they meet all deadlines and eligibility requirements.

Students can search for scholarships, grants, and state-funded aid programs through SAMS, including the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship and Arkansas Future Grant.

College-Specific Scholarships

For many students, the largest scholarship awards come directly from the colleges and universities they plan to attend. Students should visit the financial aid and scholarship pages of each college they are considering and be aware of priority scholarship deadlines. Missing a deadline could mean missing out on thousands of dollars in scholarship opportunities.
