The Wellness Council of Boyertown develops and supports programs aimed at helping students manage stress, build healthy habits, and stay active - both in and out of the classroom.
Through strategic collaboration and community partnerships, the Wellness Council of Boyertown helps increase access to wellness resources by connecting residents with organizations that provide nutritional support, mental health services, fitness opportunities, and other health-promoting services.
Through our health and wellness initiatives, the Wellness Council of Boyertown remains flexible and adaptive, ensuring our programming evolves alongside the changing needs of the Boyertown community.

President
Lucie is K-12 HPE Teacher and Wellness Coordinator for the Boyertown Area School District and a First Aid/CPR/Lifeguarding Instructor for the Boyertown YMCA. Combining a master's degree in Sports Sciences with her credentials as a certified Wellness Program Coordinator and Personal Trainer, Lucie is dedicated to building sustainable cultures of wellness. A passionate advocate for active living, Lucie frequently shares her expertise by presenting at regional, state, and national conferences. Lucie loves outdoor activities and is and avid runner.
Vice President
Charlene is a founding member of the WCB being an integral part of the Victory Mile prior to the Council’s inception. She is a retired grant writer working in higher ed at Ursinus and Albright for over 15 years and then moved to working with community non-profits. She still often helps non-profits to submit grant applications, is an avid runner and is the proud grandmother of 5.

Michelle is a Board Member and a Secretary, and has been a member of the Council for 25 years. She is a retired registered dietitian, and former Director of Shareholder Relations for Centerbank (now Wells Fargo Bank) of Waterbury, Connecticut.
Board Member
Jeff Shontz has been a member of the Wellness Council of Boyertown since 2017 and currently serves on it Board of Directors. He is passionate about promoting health, fitness and opportunities for people of all ages to stay active throughout the Boyertown community.
Jeff is the owner of Bear's Den Fitness in Boyertown, where he works to create an inclusive fitness community focused on helping people become healthier, stronger, and more confident. His commitment to community wellness extends beyond the gym. Since 2017, Jeff and his wife, Jena, have served as Community Coordinators for the Healthy Kids Running Series in Boyertown, which brings together more than 200 children ages 2-14 during it spring and fall race series.
Through his involvement with the Wellness Council, Jeff has helped support community programs and events including the annual Wellness Fair, One-Mile Challenge, Turkey Trot, and other initiatives that encourage healthy and active lifestyles throughout the Boyertown area.
In 2024, Jeff was honored as Boyertown Mentor of the Year by the Boyertown Citizens of the Year organization in recognition of his involvement and impact in the community.
Jeff and Jena are raising their two children in the Boyertown area, and his commitment to wellness is rooted in helping make the community a healthier and stronger place for current and future generations. He believes in leading by example, bringing people together, and creating opportunities for everyone to live a healthier, more active life.
Board Member
Olivia is a Registered Dietician Nutritionist, educator, and owner of LIVTRITION LLC., with more than a decade of experiences in nutrition counseling, community wellness, and health education. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition, with a minor in Communicatons, and her Master of Health Science from Cedar Crest College.
Throughout her career, Olivia has developed and led nutrition programs, health screenings, wellness seminars, and educational initiatives for individuals, families, and community organizations. She also teaches nutrition and allied health courses at the Community College of Philadelphia.
Olivia is passionate about making health information practical, approachable, and useful in everyday life. Outside of work, she enjoys running, dog sports, and trips to the mountains with her family.
Executive Director
Tara is a 200 hour certified yoga instructor with a passion for health and wellness. Her volunteer work within the Boyertown community lead her to the Wellness Council of Boyertown. She believes that strong communities are built through collaboration, connection, and creating opportunities for everyone to thrive. Above all, Tara values time with her family and loved ones. Her greatest joy is sharing life's adventures with her three little ones, who inspire her commitment to building a healthier, stronger community.
