Math Skills we will be working on:

Fluently multiplies and divides within 100 (FACTS)
Fluently adds and subtracts within 1,000
Understands place value to 1,000
Develops understanding of multiplication and division
Develops understanding of fractions
Compares fractions and understands equivalent fractions
Represents and interprets data
Measures, estimates, and solves problems using length, volume, and mass
Finds area and perimeter of shapes
Reasons with shapes and their attributes
Solves word problems involving all 4 operations
Determines value of coins and bills and makes change
Tells time to minute and calculates elapsed time

Math Facts

Third graders are expected to memorize the multiplication facts (respond within a few seconds), but may reason through division. When tested they will have to read the fact and provide the answer.

Organization of Sets:

Set A- 2s

Set B - 5s

Set C- 3s

Set D - 4s

Set E - 1s and 0s

Set F - 9s

Set G - Leftover 6s, 7s, and 8s with 6, 7, 8

Set G+ - Review 6s, 7s, and 8s with 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9

Set H - 10s

How can you help your child at home?

You can practice the basic math facts with them and you can immerse your child in real world math experiences like telling time, making change, and banking.
