Hello Future Boyertown Middle School East Students!
My name is Mrs. Leibensperger, and I'm excited to be your choir director in middle school!
MSE 6th Grade Select Vocal Ensemble is a select choir that meets twice per cycle during 10th period. Students can still participate in Orchestra, Band, and other Clubs. Typically, MSE Vocal Ensemble consists of approximately 40 singers.
I am looking for motivated, confident singers with beautiful voices who are up for a challenge and who are excited to improve their singing! In addition to the Winter and Spring Chorus Concerts, 6th grade Vocal Ensemble usually sings at a few extra events throughout the year (ex. sports games, Chicken Dinner fundraiser, community events).
AUDITIONS will be held DURING SCHOOL: NHUF on May 16th, GES on May 20th, and WES on May 22nd. If you currently attend a non BASD school, please email me to schedule an in-person or video audition: kleibensperger@boyertownasd.org
Prepare: "The Star-Spangled Banner" arr. Russell Robinson
I will score each singer based on the following criteria: tone quality, pitch accuracy, rhythmic accuracy, and intonation (tuning). I will announce the singers that I have selected before the end of the school year via email, so please be on the lookout for an email from me after auditions are over. Please keep in mind that being chosen for Vocal Ensemble at the middle school level may be more competitive than it was at your elementary buildings; last year, 98 students auditioned from several different elementary buildings, and only 45 were selected.
In order to be chosen for Vocal Ensemble, you must also be enrolled in 6th Grade Chorus class. *If you need to change your 6th grade music registration to join Chorus, please contact me at kleibensperger@boyertownasd.org so that we can add 6th Grade Chorus to your schedule.
Looking forward to a fun year of singing together!
Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed
at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars,
through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched
were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare,
the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night
that our flag was still there,
Oh, say, does that
Star-Spangled Banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free,
and the home of the brave?
