Innovation Pathways

Innovation Pathways help students become more marketable to both institutions of higher learning as well as the world of work.

In addition to the knowledge and skills obtained, there will be a designation on high school transcripts that denotes participation in a pathway. Students will also be recognized at the BHS graduation ceremony with cords to be worn over their gowns.

Innovation Pathways provide students with both high level and technical coursework related to their field of interest and will help them be successful in a career.

Bourne High School has been awarded THREE Innovation Pathway designations by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE): Business & Finance, Life & Environmental Science, and Healthcare. BHS continues to seek other designations as well as develop school based career pathways to support all students.

Business & Finance

The Business Pathway provides opportunities for students to engage in coursework and practical experiences related to the world of business. The knowledge and skills acquired will help students further their education and training in business and be prepared for life after high school.

Students are required to take two (2) advanced courses and two (2) technical courses. Additionally, students are required to complete a 100 hour internship or capstone.

Life & Environmental Science

The Environmental and Life Sciences Pathway provides opportunities for students to engage with local community partners. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills to be successful in a major or future career relating to Environmental and Life Sciences.

Students are required to take two (2) advanced courses and two (2) technical courses. Additionally, students are required to complete a 100 hour internship or capstone.
