Bourne High School has constructed these Learning Labs to provide students with a dynamic and authentic environment in which to explore, create, engage, and innovate. Each of these labs connects with our current and projected Innovation Pathways that align with careers outside of high school.
BUSINESS SUITE AND CLIENT CENTER: This space houses our new iMac Lab and is home to our Graphics, Marketing, and Advertising program. The addition of a Client Center assists student entrepreneurs support clients with their design and product needs. This space has a dual purpose as a Finance Lab which is home to a stock market ticker that supports students interested in pursuing a career in finance. We work with MassHire and the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce to support student interests in the field of business.
MEDICAL CENTER: Home to our new ambulance simulator, patient-care manikins, and new first aid, medical, and CPR equipment. There are a variety of course options and certifications associated with the medical field and public safety that we can offer to our students. We also work with local agencies like the Bourne Fire Department, the Bourne Police Department, and Cape Cod Healthcare to expose students to real-world experiences through field trips, workshops, and presentations.
ANATOMY LAB: Located in the Innovation Studio, BHS has acquired virtual dissection tables that provide students in our healthcare and science classes with an "interactive 3D anatomy and physiology learning approach through virtual dissection." These tables set us apart from other programs as few high schools have this technology. It is critical in the exploration of healthcare occupations to expose students to real-world, authentic learning experiences.
SUSTAINABILITY LAB: Our Aquaponics Lab mimics a natural ecosystem that allows students the opportunity to apply their skills to create a food production system that combines aquaculture with hydroponics. Students have access to industry leaders at WHOI and MBL. Our skills educators support students and connect them with industry mentors through field trips, workshops, and presentations.
