The Bourne High School to Career department works to support all students in their exploration of life after high school. This coursework allows students to engage in experiences and develop skills that will expand their access to career pathways.
The coursework in Career Readiness, Real World Communications, and Personal Finance provides the content so that students are able to present themselves in a professional manner, communicate effectively, and understand financial implications of life after high school.
Real-world experiences are at the heart of this work. From interviews with community partners to senior internships, this programming provides a solid foundation for all students to have the tools to be successful after graduation, no matter the path: higher education, the workforce, or the military.

Career Readiness is a course that is foundational in the School to Career program at Bourne High School.
The purpose of this course is to provide students with an authentic learning experience that will assist them in improving their knowledge of career opportunities as well as to encourage them to develop and work toward goals for life beyond high school.
Students will gain a better understanding of who they are as individuals by exploring their own interests, strengths, and values. With this information, students will research, evaluate, and learn about modern work opportunities and how they can pursue their career of interest.
The use of the MEFA Pathway platform will support students as they construct a professional portfolio that includes their formal cover letter and resume. Students will also engage in a culminating learning experience as they participate in a formal interview with a community member.
This course is a requirement for all Grade 9 students!
The Modern Workplace is the second course in a three-part series that supports the career exploration of all students. Our School to Career programming allows all students at Bourne High School to delve into career options
This course is designed to provide students with an understanding of DEI within the workforce. Utilizing research skills, students will develop an understanding of the importance of DEI in the workforce as they analyze organizational practices through the lens of bias and ethics. Students will be able to focus their inquiry on their specific career field of interest (ie. business, healthcare, education, etc).
This course is a requirement for all grade 10 students!

The primary goal of this course is to provide students with basic financial tools and knowledge that will enable them to build the lives they envision for themselves after high school.
Students will engage in course content that will examine personal budgeting, use of credit, making investments, as well as protecting and insuring assets.
Students will engage in authentic learning experiences that will promote financial responsibility and help them prepare for their financial futures.
This course is a requirement for all Grade 11 students!
