TOOLS TO MEASURE FLUENCY
TOOLS TO MEASURE FLUENCY
Multiple measures must be used to assess all of the dimensions of fluency. Phrasing and expression, qualitative components (data that describes)of fluency, can be assessed using a rubric. Grade-level rate and accuracy, quantitative components (data expressed in numbers), can be assessed using a screener such as DIBELS Next. Rate assesses the number of words read per minute and provides teachers with a measure of the student’s automaticity.
