Summer School: We are currently reaching out to some of our families to invite students to join a summer school remote program. Below are the links to the BPS Summer School program. Please note that if your child is attending ESY per their IEP, you DO NOT need to fill out an application. All applications are due on Monday, 6.22. Let us know if you need any support.

Collecting Students' Belongings: Teachers have been letting our families know how to collect their chid's items that were left at school. Please contact your child's teacher directly for more information. If you are coming to the school please review this procedure. Let us know if you have any questions.
Procedure:
Families can visit our school to pick up items on Thursday, 6/18 from 9:00 - 3:00 pm, Wednesday, 6/24 from 9:00 - 3:00 pm, and Friday, 6/26 from 9:00 - 3:00 pm.
NO family members, friends, children or pets will be allowed in the building with staff members
All staff will wear appropriate protective gear: Masks and Gloves
Staff will be provided with a designated space in the parking to give families items.
Mr. Foley will direct cars into our parking lot.
All family members will stay in the car.
The appropriate teacher will hand the items off to each family/car.
After the family has their child's belongings, they will drive their car across our green top and exit using the access road behind the school. Mr. Foley will facilitate/direct cars
4. Planning for Next Year: BPS is still in the process of planning what re-opening will look like for next year. Knowing that Monday, June 22nd is our last day of school, the Conley will continue to reach out to families over the summer as more information is provided to us. Once BPS has finalized a Re-Entry plan, we will in turn create our own and share it with you as soon as possible.

At our community meeting today, we will be having a moment of silence for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Amaud Arbery, and countless others who have lost their lives to police brutality and racist violence.
Students, staff, and families are invited to create posters expressing messages of love, hope, and solidarity, which we will display at the community meeting. (These could be paper/ cardboard, or digital, as the ppt explains.) We hope to see everyone at our Community Meeting this afternoon.

A message from OIIT:
Zoom Update on Chromebooks
Over the weekend, Zoom enforced their latest version (5.0) on all devices. Chrome apps automatically update so most Chromebooks updated the latest version of Zoom weeks ago when this was released. We are hearing that some Chromebooks did not automatically update to the latest version of Zoom, which was most likely caused by a full hard drive.
To resolve this issue, the students can factory reset the Chromebook (3-5 minutes) so the Chromebook downloads the latest version of Zoom. We have found that this is the only way to resolve this issue but this will resolve the Zoom issue immediately.

A message from Making Music Matters!
Dear Making Music Matters Families:
This is our final week of producing new lessons for our students online. While we have been missing your child in our lessons at school, we appreciate the opportunity to teach in a new way. Our online tutorials, specifically geared toward our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students, will remain available. We understand that some don't have working instruments at home, so some videos don't require an instrument.
Have you heard that music is medicine for the soul? We urge you to encourage your child or your whole family to access our videos. Play, sing, dance! Whatever you choose. Some videos pick up where the students left off in lessons at school, and teach new songs and notes. Others are review or play along pieces. There are, also, links to activity sheets and other fun videos to help engage in music.
Music is scientifically proven to have a special effect on the brain, the body and even the emotional aspects of the human being, according to psychologist Cristina Barcelo. She recommends that engaging in any sort of musical activity is a must because of the positive effects it has on the brain. Music is medicine for the soul!

Along with these resources, there is a link that students can use to be in touch with their instructor about their progress and ask questions.

A Message from BPS:
BT Funds for All BPS Students
Every BPS family will receive financial assistance for food due to the COVID-19 pandemic, available under a new federal program, P-EBT. Families will receive $28.50 a week for each eligible child.
If you do not currently have an EBT card, you will receive a P-EBT card in the mail. Each enrolled BPS child in the household will receive a unique P-EBT card. If you currently have an EBT card, funds will be added to your account. The money can be used to buy food items at stores where SNAP benefits (food stamps) are accepted (look for signs that say, “We accept EBT here”). For more information, call the Project Bread FoodSource Hotline at 800-645-8333, click here, or email . The card is valid for one year.

Dear Making Music Matters Families:
What music do you associate with events in your life? What music makes you sing or move? What music alters your mood to happy, sad, excited, silly, motivated, nostalgic?
Music around the world is keeping people together, bringing joy, and inspiring expression and creativity during these uncertain times. As we prioritize health and safety, it is important to continue normal activity and be reassured that how we are living now is temporary.
Making Music Matters continues doing our part to change children’s lives, note by note, by providing video lessons, activities, and resources for our students to continue to learn at home, whether they have a working instrument at home or not. We have produced over 130 videos from our instructors that our students can access at any time. Additionally, there are over 30 documents available, including sheet music and music-related activities and games. We are adding new video lessons and links every week.

5.13.20 A note from BPS
May 13, 2020
Dear Boston Public Schools Families:
Beginning this month, every Boston Public Schools (BPS) family will be receiving financial assistance for food due to the COVID-19 pandemic. These funds are available under a new program called Pandemic EBT (Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer) or P-EBT.
As BPS provides free meals to all students, every BPS child is qualified to receive P-EBT funds. You will receive $5.70 per eligible child per day for every day school is closed due to the pandemic, or $28.50 a week.
If you do not currently have an EBT card, you will receive a P-EBT card in the mail in May at the home address on file with your child’s school. Each enrolled BPS child in the household will receive a unique P-EBT card. If you currently have an EBT card, funds will be added to your account. The card is valid for one full year, and funds can be used to buy food items at stores where SNAP benefits (food stamps) are accepted (look for signs that say, “We accept EBT here”). IMPORTANT: Using your P-EBT card does not impact you or your child’s immigration status. The public charge rule does not apply to this program.

The City of Boston provides free meals for families every weekday, available at 65 locations throughout the city. BPS has 17 sites with free breakfast and lunch available for pick-up Monday - Friday, 8:30-11:30 am. You can use the P-EBT card and continue to pick up meals at the sites.

Your participation in the census is critical to have an accurate count of every single person, including our babies and children, so that our neighborhoods get their fair share of federal funding to support programs and services like health centers and hospitals, emergency services, public schools, Medicare and Medicaid, free school meal programs, affordable housing vouchers, special education programs, and more.
You can complete your Census form online at 2020census.gov or by phone at 844-330-2020. If you do not fill out the form online or by phone in the next several weeks, you will receive a paper form in the mail.

8:30: Good Morning Conley Families!
Starting today, all BPS buildings are closed for all staff, including principals! Starting today, I will be working remotely from home! Again, if you need anything please call me at 617-821-1881. Starting tomorrow I will be uploading "Principal's Post". These posts will include a read aloud, a Conley PRIDE at Home Reminders, and other updates! Please "tune in" tomorrow! Have a great day!

I am at the Conley this morning. If you need anything please call me at 617-821-1881 to set up a time to talk or just stop by. Today is my last day in the building. Starting tomorrow I will be working from home. Let me know if you need anything!
Clarifying Expectations: This week we will be sending out information to families outlining our Expectations for E-Learning at home! For right now, every child is expected to check this website every morning for updates and eventually my "Principal Post" (COMING SOON!) and complete assignments that are posted on their Google Classrooms. If a student is invited to a virtual meeting from their teacher, they are required to participate.

3/20/20: Good Morning Conley Students and Families!! Happy Friday!! As we begin our E-Learning Journey together, please keep in mind a few things:
We are learning this together! We are all learners in this work. Our staff will offer all of the support you need! Our goal this week is to ensure all students can access this website, student's Clever Accounts, and Google Classrooms. Next week we will provide more clarity on student expectations for completing work. Your continued patience is greatly appreciated.
If you need ANY support, do not hesitate to reach out to our incredible teachers. You can always call me at 617-821-1881 as well. Please take a moment to look at the resources on this site. Knowing that there is "a lot", take a deep breathe maybe check out one or two.

9:15: Good Morning Conley Families. If you still need to pick up your child's work, medications, and/or a Chromebook (grades 2-5) please call me at 617-821-1881. As reminder, families can also pick up work packets at Food Distribution Centers across the city. For more information check out our "Food Distribution Information" tab. Lastly, today is not a "work day" for all BPS teachers. Starting tomorrow teachers will be uploading materials into their Google Classroom. More information to follow.
3/16/20: For those families that were unable to pick up their child's paper copies of school work today, packets will also be available at Food Pick Sites. Most student learning will take place at home, online, on our Google Classrooms. If you do not have a laptop, BPS will be providing students with a Chromebook as well. More information to follow.
3/15/20: Due to school closures we will be offering students learning experiences through online platforms. Over the next six weeks, teachers will be providing students with activities for them to engage in at home. Knowing that each family is unique, please use these resources as a guide in ensuring that teaching and learning continues in your home while BPS is closed.
-Students will also be given work packets to complete at home. We will clarify what are students are expected to complete and turn in.
-Knowing that this is a very unique situation, please be patience with us as we try to support your child during this extensive time off.
