Many library selection policies call for librarians to find professional reviews for the items they put into their collections, but there is an overwhelming lack of reviews for the graphic medium. On this website, we will strive to provide information to educators on the suitability of available literature, and give guidance for expanding their graphic novel sections.

A large part of CBC’s mission is to gather relevant book lists and resources for use by parents, educators, librarians, and booksellers. The publisher members of the CBC and many other organizations have taken the lead on curating lists of fiction and nonfiction books for young people that represent diversity in all its forms.
Established in 2006 by Dr. Debbie Reese of Nambé Pueblo, American Indians in Children's Literature (AICL) provides critical analysis of Indigenous peoples in children's and young adult books. Dr. Jean Mendoza joined AICL as a co-editor in 2016.
