Dear School Street School Families,
What a wonderful start to the 2026–2027 school year! It has been so exciting to welcome our students back to School Street School. Thank you to our families, students, and staff for helping us have such a smooth and successful opening!
Last week, our students were introduced to PBSIS and our three School Street School expectations: Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Kind. Students are already putting these expectations into action and earning Bomber Bucks along the way! We are so proud of the positive choices we are seeing throughout our school.
Back to School Night is Tuesday!
Pre-K & Kindergarten: 6:30 PM
First & Second Grade: 7:15 PM (In the Gymnasium)
We look forward to welcoming our families into the building and sharing more about the exciting year ahead.
It is going to be a fantastic year of Learning, Growing, and Soaring together!
Warmly,
Mrs. Schessler
Principal
Five of our second-grade students held a Lemonade Stand sale recently, and they donated a portion of their proceeds to the Boonton Fire Department, since they lost two days of their (main fundraiser) carnival due to the weather this year. These students have been recognized by the fire department Chief, as well as here at school for being BEST BOMBERS not only in school but out in our community. Way to go, Cash, Finn, Henry, Gabriel, and Josh!
What a wonderful start to second grade! We have been busy getting to know one another, learning our new school routines, and beginning to build a classroom community where everyone feels safe, welcomed, and ready to learn.
One of the most exciting parts of our week has been our “Getting to Know You”
activities. Students have had opportunities to share about themselves, discover things they have in common with classmates, and learn more about the wonderful people who make up our classroom.
We are beginning to see friendships grow as students work together, talk with new classmates, and discover shared interests. Our goal is to create a classroom where everyone feels that they belong and has someone to learn and play with.
We are learning that being a great classroom community member means being respectful, responsible, and kind. We have been practicing listening when others are speaking, following directions, taking care of our classroom and materials, and using kind words and actions with our classmates.
We are also learning our new school rules and routines. Since everything is new, we are taking our time to practice and understand what it means to make good choices throughout the school day. We know that learning rules takes practice, and we are proud of the progress we are already making!
Thank you for helping your child begin this exciting second-grade journey! We are off to a fantastic start, and we are so excited to see our classroom communities continue to grow. 🌈📚
