The halls of John Hill School came back alive as our students returned for another exciting school year! The energy, smiles, and excitement were everywhere as our students and staff reunited and kicked off a new year together. We’re looking forward to another amazing year filled with learning, growth, friendship, and plenty of great memories. Welcome back, Junior Bombers—we’re ready for a fantastic year!
Thursday evening was an incredible night celebrating our 7th and 8th grade students as they officially began their journey in our AVID elective program! AVID gives our students the opportunity to become great learners by developing important learning habits and strategies through collaboration, inquiry, organization, and student agency. Our students learn how to work together, take ownership of their learning, and build skills that will help them succeed in high school, college, careers, and the real world. Congratulations to all of our AVID students! We are so excited to see the great things they will accomplish over the next few years!
Our fall sports kicked off this week with our Girls Field Hockey team winning their home opener against Mendham! Our boys and girls soccer and cross country teams will also be beginning their seasons soon! We look forward to providing highlights of all our fall teams over the coming weeks!
In 4th grade, students recently created their own “Me Museums,” bringing in five objects from home that represented different parts of who they are, including a favorite food, something they enjoy outside of school, their family, a favorite place to visit, and something that makes them happy. Students could bring an actual object, photograph, or drawing and included a short description explaining each item. After setting up their displays, students participated in a gallery walk, giving them the opportunity to learn more about their classmates, celebrate what makes each person unique, and build stronger classroom connections.
Back to School Night will be held on Wednesday, September 16th, at 6:30pm. This event is a wonderful opportunity for parents to learn about the 2026-2027 school year and to meet their child's teachers. We encourage all parents to attend and engage with the school community as we kick off another fantastic school year together! We look forward to seeing you there!
Just a few reminders when dropping off and picking up your child/children at JHS. Parents are encouraged to use the Monroe Street entrance, but it is important not to park in front of the neighborhood driveways to avoid inconveniencing residents. Please remember to follow all posted street signs and traffic regulations. When using the car line in front of JHS, please make sure to pull all the way up to ensure smooth traffic flow and reduce congestion during busy times. Your cooperation helps maintain a safe and efficient process for all. Thank you!
Every new school year, please forward any updates on immunizations that you may have gotten for your child over the summer. By forwarding the paperwork each year, this will allow the health office to keep your child's portal updated with all their required immunizations.
