The Boonton Fire Department paid a visit to John Hill School on Wednesday. Several firemen discussed their roles in the Boonton Fire Department and also talked about what to do in case of a fire emergency. The students had the opportunity to view the different fire trucks and were able to sit inside of the vehicles. A special thank you to all our town firemen for making this fire safety event a success!
Dear Parents and Guardians of 8th Grade Students:
You are cordially invited to attend Boonton High School’s Open House on Wednesday, November 2, 2022. The evening will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. in the Boonton High School auditorium. The staff and I are excited to share with you the opportunities that await your child at Boonton High School.
During the Open House, you will be introduced to our rigorous academic programs which include our one-of-a-kind academies (Gateway, STEM, Criminal Justice, Teaching & Learning, & Business), our AVID program, our diverse extra-curricular activities, and our student support programs offered at the high school. School personnel will be available to answer questions regarding the previously mentioned areas.
We look forward to meeting you and partnering with you as your child begins their education at Boonton High School.

Each month, JHS middle school students have the opportunity to take part in a Reading and Writing Challenge. The winners were selected by the middle school staff. We are proud to announce Skylar Brady (grade 7) and Josiah Chaplain (grade 8) as the winners for September's Haiku poetry contest. Thank you to Mrs. Hughen for organizing this opportunity for the middle school students!
Ms. Kelly's 3rd grade class learned about different engineering practices during Flex Time. The students were asked to build the tallest towers possible. They then had certain criteria they had to follow when constructing the tower. Additionally, they had to abide by certain constraints such as the quantity of paper cups and the time allotted to build the structure. Everyone really enjoyed this hands-on activity!
Congratulations to our September and October Champions For Kids. Mrs. Shiels our JHS nurse earned the award for September. As our school nurse, she has worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic. She continuously gives a relentless effort in making sure the students and staff at John Hill School are cared for and safe.
Our October winner, Mrs. Wieland has worked very hard to make sure individual students are improving their reading skills. Mrs. Wieland always makes sure she interacts with students with a smile. She also exhibits kindness and heart when working with her children. Congratulations to both of our winners!
Students in 6th grade music class are learning about tempo and meter changes. They learned to sing the song "Hava Nagila" which is in Hebrew. Students identified the tempo changes and noted that at the end of the song it gets faster (accelerando).
