Moms play the role of maid, chauffeur, chef, dog walker, personal assistant, nurse, and more. We would like to thank you for your support during the year. Please remember to take some time to take care of yourself. Enjoy your day with your family and cherish their love. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
We began our Medical theme in two of the centers in Ms. Catlett's room.
In Table Toys, students are taking on the role of the dentist. We have discussed the importance of brushing and flossing our teeth. Students are becoming familiar with the drill, mirror, and floss sticks. As students wait to play with the dental-themed Play-Doh set, they are role-playing the patient and receptionist.
In our Literacy Center, the students are visiting the Eye Doctor. The eye doctor has been providing eye exams where students are identifying letters and shapes on a chart. They have been doing a fantastic job taking turns back and forth. If students do not pass the eye exam, they have a variety of glasses to try on before making their final decision.
We are looking forward to adding the Nursery, Emergency Room, Hospital Gift Shop, and Pharmacy.
This week in Mrs. Dougherty’s class, the students practiced drawing the letters M and R during graphics practice. While drawing the letter M, the students used the private speech “line down, slant down, slant up, line down.” While drawing the letter R, students said “line down, around, slant down.” The class identified that they can write the letter M while writing the words Monkey, Map, Money, and Mop. They said they could write the letter R while writing the words Robot, Rock, and Ring.
In art, the students are practicing their cutting skills by cutting out letters and placing them with pictures that match the letter’s initial sound! Some of the pictures that the students found today to match the letter A were apple, alligator, and ant.
