The elementary spring concert was held on Tuesday night. Students in grades 3-5 sung and performed different music from all around the world. Songs included the Austrian folk song "Edelweiss" from The Sound of Music and the Zulu song "Amavolovolo" which symbolizes peace and happiness. We thank all families for coming in and supporting our JHS students on this wonderful night!
Congratulations to Paul Ippolito for being selected as an Outstanding Band Member for Morris County. Paul was honored at the Morristown Performing Arts Center on May 5th with several other award winners for his excellence in musical performance.
Congratulations to all our Earn Your Wings winners for the month of April. This month we focused on the character trait of "acceptance." During the month of May, our focus is teamwork.
Mrs. Papasso, an Army veteran, visited JHS to meet with the Stars & Stripes Club to talk about the importance of raising and lowering the flag each day with honor and respect. After speaking with the students, the group went out to the flagpole and practiced folding the flag while Mrs. Papasso helped guide their precision. It was a great experience and everyone involved gained a greater respect for the American flag.
On Tuesday, June 6th we will be offering our final family night entitled "Summer Send Off." Students and their parents can enjoy a night of fun take away activities to keep students thinking throughout the summer. For signups or more information please click on the picture.
Applications for AVID for students who are currently in 6th and 7th grade and interested in the AVID class for next year, are due by May 24th. Interviews are required following the application process. Please reach out to Mrs. Hughen if you have any questions.
Ms. Brady is currently seeking members of our community who would be interested in coming to present information about their careers to our middle school students on June 5th from 8:30 -10:30am. Please contact Ms. Brady if you would be interested. We thank you for your consideration.
The 6th grade team at JHS is hosting an information session on May 24th at 5pm for current 5th grade families whose students are getting ready to make the transition to the middle school! Our goal is to set our students up for success as they transition to middle school students at JHS. We hope to see you there!
Middle School spring sports are in full swing. Please be sure to visit our athletic schedules and pick a day to come out and support our student athletes!
When out and about on these beautiful weather days we have been experiencing, whether it’s on ball fields, hiking in tree dense areas or just having a picnic, please do a body check when you get to your home for any signs of ticks. You will want to check your head, arm pits, belly buttons, lower torso/upper legs and back of knees. These are the areas that ticks infest themselves because they are warmer spots on our bodies. If you should find a tick, remove the entire tick including the head. Save the tick and contact your family physician for further evaluation.
Please check your Realtime Parent Portal for third marking period grades. We are very proud of our students efforts in being the best students they can be! Also, attendance letters are available to view under the correspondence tab. Attendance letters are sent out once students meet attendance thresholds. The NJDOE has prioritized a measure of Chronic Absenteeism that our schools are accountable to. Chronic absenteeism occurs when a student misses 10 percent or more of the school days in session for which that student was enrolled. If a student is enrolled for the full school year, acquiring 18 or more absences equates to being chronically absent. Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
