Baba Got Bars

Baba Bomani performed at JHS on Tuesday for students in grades 3 to 8.  Baba used hip hop poetry to teach students about the writing process and provided positive messages through his unique raps.   Thank you to the PTA for bringing in an entertaining and informative artist!

Soaring at JHS!

As part of the gifted and talented programming at JHS, selected students in grades 3-8 participated in the Workshop of the Arts as well as the Learning Carnival this past week!  Please see below!

Workshop of the Arts

A select group of students in Grades 6-8 participated in this year's Workshop on the Arts with the NJCGT. This was a two day workshop where on day 1, students participated in a variety of workshops including dance, theatre, creative writing, instrumental music, and vocal music. On day 2, students were divided into groups with students from other local schools. The event concluded with each group performing 5 minute musicals they wrote, choreographed, composed, and directed.

The Learning Carnival

This week, students in Grades 3-5 attended the NJCGT Annual Learning Carnival where students had the opportunity to learn new skills and concepts from local experts. The workshops included Please Don't Stop the Music (dance), Marvelous Microinvertebrates, Percussion and Sound Stories, Dynamic Domes, Exploring Skulls, Asymmetry, Hogwart's Holwers, Branding Imaginary Businesses, Design and Sell (making commercials), and Math-a-Mania.

JHS has Heart!

Students For Change representatives welcomed students into the building on Friday with signs and smiles to ensure that students started their day off right!  Messages of "Happy Friday" and "JHS has heart" and "have a great day" encouraged students as they entered the building.

Realtime Parent Portal

Please check your Realtime Parent Portal for second marking period grades.  We are very proud of our students efforts in being the best students they can be!  Also, attendance letters are available to view under the correspondence tab.  Attendance letters are sent out once students meet attendance thresholds.  The NJDOE has prioritized a measure of Chronic Absenteeism that our schools are accountable to.  Chronic absenteeism occurs when a student misses 10 percent or more of the school days in session for which that student was enrolled.  If a student is enrolled for the full school year, acquiring 18 or more absences equates to being chronically absent.  Please feel free to reach out with any questions.
