UPDATES AND INFORMATION
Our Family Literacy Night was a huge success! Parents were able to learn about the different literacy activities that their children work on in school.
Thanks to the wonderful dental health presentation by Kidz World Pediatric Dentistry, our preschool classes learned about the importance of eating healthy and brushing their teeth.
Please click on the website to find the nearest location for a free dental cleaning: https://www.njda.org/for-the-public/gkas.

They will triage patients in need during February, March, April & May. In addition, they refer patients who need additional operative or surgical care to a pediatric dentist. Each participating pediatric dentist will treat children for FREE according to the dentist’s preferences (including time of the day, age, dental needs, and # of children they are willing to see).
As you might be aware, If your child will be 5 years old by October 1, 2023, and is currently enrolled in our preschool program, you DO NOT need to complete the registration. However, please note that an updated Universal Health Record (September 2022-September 2023) is needed as well as immunization records. Please send these forms to your child's nurse.
This week students had a visit from a dental hygienist. She came to our classroom and talked about the importance of keeping teeth healthy. She reminded students that they should be brushing their teeth twice a day for 2 minutes. Students talked about foods and drinks that are healthy for our bodies and our teeth and ones that are not good for us. They played a sorting game putting foods and drinks into “Good Food” “Good Drink” or “Bad Food” “Bad Drink” categories.
Our new theme for make-believe play is The Farm. Many math and literacy concepts will be infused in all of the centers. Students will sort fruits and vegetables in the Farmer’s Market, plant seeds in the Garden, read stories and learn about farming in our Agriculture Center, repair tractors, paint the barn and sort the farm tools in the Garage and feed the animals, build fences and put the animals in the corrals in the Pasture.
This week we continued our Medical Theme! We introduced the roles of Pharmacist and X-ray Technician. During story lab, we read Johnathan Goes to the Doctor by Susan K. Baggette and learned two new vocabulary words-pharmacist and prescription. We also read Franklin Goes to the Hospital by Paulette Bourgeois and learned what an x-ray is! During small group, we read A Bad Case of Stripes by David Shannon and came up with our own silly diagnosis. We are hard at work practicing separating and blending phonemes with Elkonin Boxes as well as counting on with dice.
On Monday we had a wonderful presentation by Ms. Kiki and Miles the dinosaur! We learned how many times to brush our teeth each day and a new song to sing while brushing. On Wellness Wednesday we wore pajamas to remind us of the importance of rest!
