Dear Boonton Bomber Families,

As the weeks continue to fly by, I once again offer my thanks for your continued support of our students and schools. As you will see in the school pages of this bulletin, there are many exciting events and opportunities that our students remain involved in. BOONTON BOMBER VALUES SHOWCASED IN REGIONAL COMPETITION

John Hill School is a proud participant in the New Jersey Consortium for Gifted and Talented Programs. This year, the NJCGTP presented a Mascot Challenge in which students were presented the task of creating models of their school mascots, incorporating moving parts, and connecting their ideas to a virtue of the school community. John Hill School's 5th Grade Team constructed a Boonton Bomber plane with a propeller using a motor, a small light for the cockpit, and also decorated the plane with borage flowers. Students researched symbols for courage and discovered the borage flower is known to bring courage to one's heart and was consumed by Roman soldiers during antiquity to give them courage. The JHS 6th Grade Team chose generosity as Boonton's virtue to highlight and showcased it by creating a lever and string latch to drop food and medical supplies to those in need. They also constructed a propeller and motor for their plane. The winners of this challenge will be selected next month. We wish our JHS teams the very best as they compete and are grateful for their efforts in reflecting our Boonton Bomber values in their work!
