Having worked with students with special needs for over 10 years, I have learned that they have one thing in common...they love YouTube. Video modeling not only plays to their preferred activities but it is a great tool in which students can use to assess their own learning, practice social skills and provide for a great visual for a task analysis.

Video Modeling includes videotaped or digital clips of an individual being taught or other models (e.g., teachers, parents, peers, etc.) performing some target behavior or sequence of behaviors (e.g., brushing teeth). The student watches the video model through some type of media (e.g., computer, digital camera, videotape, etc.) before asked to perform the target behavior.
