CSF membership does not earn students graduation regalia. To qualify for regalia, the student must earn 25 service points for every semester he or she is a CSF member. 25 service points is the equivalent of 5 volunteering hours (5 points/hour).
Service points must be earned from volunteer opportunities offered by Bonita CSF. Independent volunteer events will not be accepted unless they can be made available to all Bonita CSF students. (See Ms. Dolfi in room 907 for more information if you know of an event that meets this criteria.) All opportunities* will be posted on the our Minga group page with a sign-up form. The sign-up forms will be shut off manually when the number of volunteers has been reached and the schedule has been filled.
*The following on-going opportunities will not have sign-up forms on Google Classroom:
Recycling Club during Intervention
Donations
These opportunities will occur a few times each semester and will be announced in our Minga group page. You will be required to sign in donation items on a sign-up sheet in room 907.
You can earn up to 10 service points through donation opportunities each semester.
All opportunities, with the exception of Donations, require a signed volunteer form (see below) for validation purposes. The form must be printed, taken to the event, signed by an adult in charge of the event, and submitted online to the appropriate semester's CSF Volunteer Form Submission posted on Google Classroom.
Get notified via Minga of a volunteer opportunity. *Make sure your notifications are turned on*
Access our CSF Minga group page to view opportunity details and get link to the sign-up form.
Complete the sign-up form. Forms will open only if there are spots left.
Take note of the opportunity details (when, where, attire, etc.). It is the student's responsibility to remember to attend the event.
Print a volunteer form and take the form to the event. Make sure an adult in charge of the event signs the form.
Access the online submission form to submit the hours for points. The online form will ask for a picture of the paper volunteer form.
The online form will automatically populate the submission spreadsheet, accessible through this post in Google Sheets. The spreadsheet allows you to keep track of your service points. (Note that the spreadsheet does not automatically alphabetize submissions. Ms. Dolfi will alphabetize them periodically by last name, but if you would like to immediately check that your submission went through, you will need to scroll to the bottom of the spreadsheet to find your recent submission.)
All forms and spreadsheet access require students to be logged in to their school Google accounts. If you are having issues with this, you will need to log out of all your personal accounts and log back in to the school account ONLY. Then, try to access the document again. Please do this before contacting Ms. Dolfi. She has had to explain this process to students via email more times than you can imagine.
Signing up to volunteer at an event is a commitment to volunteer at that event. By signing up, you are taking a spot from another CSF member who could have signed up and earned service points at this event. Moreover, event organizers are counting on a specific number of volunteers. If Bonita CSF says we can provide those volunteers and then the volunteers do not show up, the organizers will not want to work with us again, and as a result, CSF members will have fewer opportunities from which to earn service points. This directly impacts you as well as the future of CSF at Bonita.
As such, it is important that you check your calendars to ensure you can volunteer at the event before signing up for the event or shift. That said, there are unforeseeable circumstances in which cancellations are necessary.
Complete this form to request a cancellation for a shift or an event you signed up to work. Emails and Minga messages are not acceptable ways to cancel a shift.
You get two "free" cancellations a semester (1 shift = 1 cancellation); after that, you lose 5 service points per cancellation and will need to make those up by the end of the semester in order to remain eligible for regalia.
A cancellation requested within 4 hours of a shift is considered a "no show" UNLESS you can find someone to take your place. If you find someone, then it will be considered a cancellation and not a "no show." Indicate who will be taking your place in the cancellation request form. The person taking your place must let the volunteer coordinator know whose place he/she is taking, as the coordinator at the event will receive a list of volunteer names.
If you fail to show up to the event without completing the cancellation request form OR if you complete the request form within 4 hours of the shift but cannot find someone to take your place, this will be considered a "no show" with the following penalties:
1st no show = lose 5 service points
2nd no show = disqualified from earning service points this semester (in other words, this semester will not count toward your semesters for regalia)
