TRANSFER PERMIT CRITERIA

Applications for attendance using a transfer permit are reviewed at the initial request and again each year in June. A request for a transfer permit may be denied or revoked if the attendance, academic, or behavior records of the student do not meet established criteria. Transfer permit criteria for each grade span can be found below.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS (Grades K-5)

Academics: Students shall be proficient or higher on formal assessments, including report cards and benchmarks and students shall be making reasonable progress toward grade level proficiency.

Behavior: The student shall have no suspensions in the prior three trimesters, shall have no more than three office visits in the prior three trimesters, and shall have no "N" or "U" or "2" or "1" citizenship marks on the most recent report card.

Attendance: The student shall have no truancies and shall have no more than an average of one full-day absence, part-day absence, tardy, or late pick-up per month in the prior three trimesters. 

TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN - A permit may be revoked at the end of the Transitional Kindergarten year, or denied for Kindergarten enrollment following one year of Transitional Kindergarten, if a student is severe in either category below, or if a student is moderate or severe in both categories. Admission to transitional kindergarten is not subject to criteria.

Behavior: Moderate: The student has at least three entries in the assertive discipline record for any reason. Severe: The student has been suspended, or the student has at least three three entries in the assertive discipline record for offenses involving violent behavior directed at other students or staff, or the student has at least six entries in the assertive discipline record for any reason.

Attendance: Moderate: The student has an average of more than one full-day absence, part-day absence, tardies, or late pick-up per month during the time the student was enrolled in TK. Severe: The student has an average of more than two full-day absences, part-day absences, tardies, or late pick-ups per month during the time the student was enrolled in TK.

MIDDLE SCHOOLS (Grades 6-8)

Academics: The student shall have a grade point average no lower than 2.0 and shall have no failing marks on the most recent report card.

Behavior: The student shall have no suspensions in the prior two semesters, shall have no more than three unrelated disciplinary actions/consequences issued by the office in the prior two semesters, and shall have no more than two “U” citizenship marks on the most recent report card.

Attendance: The student shall have no truancies and shall have no more than an average of one full-day absence, part-day absence, or tardy per month in the prior two semesters.

HIGH SCHOOLS (Grades 9-12)

Academics: The student shall have an un-weighted grade point average no lower than 2.0 and shall have no failing marks on the most recent report card, shall have a cumulative un-weighted high school grade point average of no less than 2.0, and shall have sufficient credits to be on pace to graduate on time.

Behavior: The student shall have no suspensions in the prior two semesters, shall have no more than three unrelated disciplinary actions/consequences issued by the office in the prior two semesters, and shall have no more than two “U” citizenship marks on the most recent report card.

Attendance: The student shall have no truancies and shall have no more than an average of one full-day absence, part-day absence, or tardy per month in the prior two semesters.
