Annemarie Hasnain, MA Anthropology Student (Summer 2020 grad)

Annemarie completed her thesis testing the reproductive compensation hypothesis for humans using a database from Indonesia. She is also working on the evolutionary psychology of religious communication.

Mitchell Brinton, MA Anthropology, 2018

Mitch developed an agent-based model of transportation options of the Inuit in the Canadian Arctic in the face of climate change. His model attempts to flesh out under what conditions dogsleds (a less risky alternative to snowmobiles) might be re-introduced as Arctic climate becomes more unpredictable. Elizabeth Turner, MA Anthropology, 2018

Elizabeth investigated the effects of birthing practices on long-term health and reproductive outcomes in the 1970 British Cohort study. Elizabeth tested predictions from life history theory as well as assumptions about the connections between medical interventions at birth, digestive health, autoimmune disorders, and depression.

Delaney Glass, BA Anthropology, 2016

Delaney is beginning a Ph.D. in Anthropology at University of Washington in Fall, 2018. She has a focus on Biological Anthropology.

Shane Scaggs, BA Anthropology, 2016

Shane is an MA student in Anthropology at Oregon State University. He is beginning a Ph.D. in Anthropology at Ohio State in January, 2019. He is interested in how local ecological knowledge (LEK) of people in southwest Alaska has been important to their success in maintaining diverse household production profiles. Karl Mertens, MA Anthropology 2015

Karl conducted fieldwork with Evenki reindeer herders and hunters in Irkutsk Region of eastern Siberia. He focused on how they respond to seasonal and resource constraints through time investments and mobility patterns. Karl's thesis can be found here.

Joellie Rasmussen, MA Anthropology, 2014

Joellie investigated food distribution patterns with data collected by Dr. Ziker in a Siberian community in 2001 and 2003. She also investigated the effects of wealth on men's reproductive success from census and wealth inventory data from the same community. Joellie's thesis can be found here.
