These math tools can be used to re-introduce and reinforce concepts learned in class in an easy-to-understand way.
Desmos provides suite of free math software tools designed to help students understand complex mathematical concepts, including graphing and scientific calculators. The calculator has built-in examples for students to explore, covering subjects such as lines, parabolas, trigonometry, conic sections, parametric equations, transformations, statistics, lists, and calculus. It also allows them to manipulate variables manually, graph multiple functions at once, and save and share their work. Talking calculators are also available for students who are visually impaired.
GeoGebra is dynamic mathematics software for all levels of education that encompasses algebra, geometry, spreadsheets, graphs, statistics and analysis, calculus in a single easy to use tool.
Free apps for iOS, Anroid, Windows, Mac, Chromebook and Linux
Khan Academy offers free resources for teachers, students and parents. Learners can study at their own pace using instructional videos and practice exercises, and track their progress using personalized dashboard.

Free, open-source software developed by Microsoft to help students with math and science studies. With Microsoft Mathematics, students can learn to solve equations step-by-step while gaining a better understanding of fundamental concepts in pre-algebra, algebra, trigonometry, physics, chemistry, and calculus. Microsoft Mathematics includes a full-featured graphing calculator that’s designed to work just like a handheld calculator. Additional math tools help you evaluate triangles, convert from one system of units to another, and solve systems of equations. Runs on Windows, iOS and Android.
The PhET Interactive Simulations project at the University of Colorado Boulder creates free interactive math and science simulations. PhET simulations engage learners through an intuitive, game-like environment and allow students learn through exploration and discovery.
Photomath can help learners interpret problems with comprehensive math content from arithmetic to calculus to drive learning and understanding of fundamental math concepts. Photomath is easy to use - it reads and solves mathematical problems instantly by using a mobile device camera. Students can use it to check their understanding of fundamental math concepts and to check their work.
From Practical Money Skills, the Payoff is an online financial simulation game featuring Alex or Jess, video bloggers prepping for a video competition. They must handle their finances and unexpected events life throws at them. Visa is the game developer. The program includes a teacher planning guide, worksheets, videos, and the online component.
Students become wizards in a virtual world and do math battles. This is a grade K-8 curriculum. It provides students with reinforcement, enrichment, and engagement. Teachers are able to use a dashboard with assessment tools and reports.
Free personalized math learning with motivational games and badges set into the program. Math skills are based on common curriculum objectives. It is easy to track student progress.
Online interactive activities for a variety of class subjects including lessons for teachers. Students can manipulate functions to increase understading of skills from algebra to calculus. The website also includes a section for discussions with simulated conversations and diagrams.
This is a K-8 plus algebra site with manipulatives that can be used online for remote learning. There are videos to show how to use them. There are also free lesson plan activities. Algebra teachers may also be interested in the algebra tiles. Teachers can provide a direct link to the chosen tools.
Like Prodigy, Variant Limits is an immersive world math game for calculus. It engages and motivates students and provides student progress tracking from the teacher dashboard. The music and storyline are built for the older students. Similar to other adventure games, teachers must be careful of students who may spend more time on wandering through the game than on the learning and solving problems.
After looking around for white boards with graph paper that will allow the user to place a dot at given points, I realized that there may be an opening for developers in this area. This is one of the better interactive graph papers. Some will allow the user to input the formula, but if the teacher needs the student to learn how to graph the formula themselves, this might be a better option.
This add-on allows teachers to use Math Type for Google Docs to enable them to insert and edit lengthy math equations to Google. This is also available in Microsoft programs, Canvas, Moodle, Schoology, and Mac's Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. This makes creating online math notations for assignments much easier.
An upcoming project that will provide free materials on the common language of mathematics that will go across language barriers. Students will be assessed on their knowledge of mathspeak for placement. It may be helpful for students learning math as an English Language Learner.
Founded by Harvard and MIT, EdX is a consortium of universities providing open courseware. The page for math covers probability, statistics, pre-calculus, algorithms, and linear algebra among other courses from various universities. These courses are free to use.
