The AVID elective serves to support its students through an emphasis on WICOR curricular strategies, which include writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization, and reading.
By reinforcing study and organizational skills, and encouraging students to take more rigorous and challenging classes, the program seeks to ultimately prepare them for success at a college or university.
AVID 9 continues to build on the systems learned in the AVID 7 and AVID 8 elective classes. A big emphasis in the AVID 9 class is creating a portfolio that can show their growth from 9th-12th grades. Students will continue to prepare for standardized testing by taking the PSAT 8/9. AVID 9 students will continue to hone their college and career research by completing projects that will help them identify what is the best fit for their future goals.
