Mindfulness is the practice of maintaining awareness in the moment. Being mindful means we are aware of our thoughts, feeling, bodily sensations and surrounding environment. Mindfulness keeps your thoughts focused to the current moment and decreases worry about the past or the future, which we can not control. Mindfulness also involves an acceptance and non-judgmental view of our thoughts and feelings-there is no "right" or "wrong" thought, instead, if we are mindful, we acknowledge the thought or feeling and let it go.
Mindfulness has been shown to:
decrease worry and stress
boost our ability to remember facts, hold information in our brains, and focus
increase physical health
Decrease emotional reactivity
