Having 18 years of teaching experience, I bring a strong foundation in leadership, communication, and teamwork to my role as a DECA advisor. My background includes serving as the Sports Director at the YMCA, where I gained valuable marketing skills while organizing programs and motivating both staff and participants. I also served as an athletic director at the junior high school level and have coached for more than 20 years, experiences that sharpened my ability to plan, organize, and guide teams toward success. I am excited to bring these skills to DECA, helping students grow as leaders while developing their own talents in business, marketing, finance, hospitality, and management.
A DECA advisor is:
A teacher who integrates DECA into classroom learning.
A manager who oversees the chapter’s operations, finances, and activities.
A mentor/coach who prepares students for leadership and competitive success.
A connector who links students with business, community, and career opportunities.
Above all, the advisor ensures the DECA experience develops students’ academic, leadership, and career skills while keeping the chapter organized, active, and compliant.
