They also compete at school competitions. Coach Jenn Smart, this year's coach has been creating exciting new routines for the team to perform. Her favorite style to choreograph is kick routines. Competitions that they go to consist of 4 competitions, 3 District competitions and State if they qualify. But before the competition season starts, they dance at the football games, learning combos to do with the band to help hype up the Timberline fans. Jenn loves choreography and coaching for the Timberline Dance Team, and senior Aubrey Gertch enjoys being on the dance team. As a first year on the team, she has loved every moment of it. She said that it is fun to improve her technique and make good friends. Aubrey loves performing on the team and dancing on the sideline at games.

For her, the hardest part is getting up for morning practice twice a week. But she would recommend it to anyone who wants to grow as a dancer and wants a chance to perform, even with the early morning practice. The great part about the dance team is that grades 9 through 12 can audition to be on the team. At the audition, they look for technique in floor combos, turns, leaps, kicks, and they do a contemporary and jazz combo. Dancers also have an opportunity to show their own tricks and skills. Going into auditions, it is good to have a little bit of background in dance, but even that won’t stop you from auditioning for this awesome team.
