We have made giant steps in the past 13 weeks and we asked the girls to reflect on the Units that we have studied. Once they had a visual idea for the Unit they picked, they sketched and painted them on a ceiling tile to be installed in the STEM classroom. Their work will be memorialized for future Girls STEM participants to see.
Khloe and Stella were awarded the Heart Unit and they created a tile based on their favorite song from the unit, "I'm Your Heart". Sing along with it here.
Kendall T. outlines her design to commemorate building hydraulic claws that used biomimicry to grasp various objects.
Students created a tile that shared our hands representing team work, building one another up, and a high five for maximum effort.
Shelbie, Nevaeh, and Ava are preparing the sky to showcase our Rocketry unit. (Shelbie is a little shy.)
Rosa, McKenna, and special guest Jovanna sketch out a coat of arms that showcased the useless inventions that the class failed to make. (Ask how many times the "Sand Buddy" has been used in class.)
Melodee and Audrey are capturing the stars and planets on their tile to represent the Astronomy unit we are completing.
Our talented girls made some awesome reminders of the semester we spent breaking new ground and creating a cool, unique program.
Kenna and Rosa created a class "coat of arms" that featured the "useless" inventions the class created.
Maddie and Lilly painted a tile to commemorate the Crime Scene Unit and learning how a real investigative team works.
In her own unique twist Lilly reminds us why we need to take care of the earth and try to be better stewards of the land.
Ava and Nevaeh picked the pathogens unit and their tile reminds us that bacteria and germs are everywhere. Go wash your hands!
La La, Carmen, Madisyn (not pictured) and Shelbie (not pictured) showed our creative flex when we presented a "Top Gun" themed video highlighting local manufacturer, FCX systems. We also built catapault launchers as part of the program.
Khloe and Stella chose the singing heart that students watched to begin the heart unit. It is a catchy little tune that gets stuck in your head. It does, however, help you understand the function of the heart.
Painting in progress! Can't rush perfection!
Kendall reminds us of the WVU STEAM-Tac project of constructing hydraulic claws and biomimicry. Her use of Toy Story's aliens perfectly represents a hydraulic claw in real life.
Addisyn, Delaney and Mila painted this sunset masterpiece to represent our look at animal sciences like Veterinary work and environmental sciences.
Ryleigh painted this tile with another student based on his request. Ryleigh's kindness and patience with the student will be commemorated for years to come.
This group of girls are paving new paths for rising 7th graders. This tile represents the hand that will reach out to pull the upcoming girls to new heights!
