Parenting is hard, especially with teenagers. They are older, independent, and are growing closer to adulthood. That does not mean that they do not still need help, encouragement, or a gentle push to accomplish their goals. Whatever those goals may be, it is our job as educators, counselors, administrators, Communities In Schools Student Support Specialist/Site Coordinators, and of course parents or guardians to help them reach those goals. This job requires us to communicate and work together. This may have been easier when they were in elementary or middle school, because it was easier to stay up to date and connected with your child's school. At the high school level it is a little harder because of their growing independence, therefore, there can be a disconnect between the family and the school. This site is dedicated to bridging the gap between the school and families.
If your student has any credits they need to recover they should have brought home a Plato form for you to sign. Plato is an online credit recovery program. Students can work on modules at home but must take pre-tests and post-tests at school. Students can stay after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays in room 105 to take these Plato tests. Please sign and return this to school ASAP so they can get started on their course! If your child has not brought a form home, and they have credits to recover please let me know! Students need 27 credits to graduate!
