The Goals of the Media & Journalism Department at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy are to:

1. Provide hands-on experience in broadcasting, video, print, and online media platforms, preparing students to create professional-quality content across multiple outlets including social media;

2. Equip students with the skills to produce diverse content, from informative news stories to entertaining features, that drive audience engagement;

3. Offer opportunities for students to advance from learning foundational concepts to joining production teams that manage student-led publications, broadcast shows and compete in local and national competitions; and

4. Empower students to develop a creative voice and take creative risks in a hands-on, project-based learning environment. We promote creativity, problem-solving, and leadership skills in a real-world setting.
