BGJHS Design Lab

Below are students from our 7th grade science classes.

Catapult Challenge:

Students research catapults, their history and elements, and create them with moslty recycled materials found around the lab. The ultimate goal is to launch a small projectile as far as possible.

Pollinator :

Students study and research, design, prototype and build bee pollinators in small groups with materials and tools found in the lab. The end product will be hung or placed in our school's courtyard and in Boardman Park.

Wind Turbine Challenge :

Students study and research wind power and turbines, design and build them in small groups with materials and tools found in the lab. The goal is to produce as many volts of power as possible. The best designs qualify to participate in an annual Kid Wind renewable energy competition in northeast Ohio.

Courtyard Planters :

Students designed and built planters for vegetables and other plants in small groups with materials and tools supplied by the science department and in the lab.

Egg Drop Rockets :

Students designed and created rockets to house an egg in small groups with materials and tools supplied by the science department, students and in the lab. The rockets are made of 2 liter bottles, filled with water, and are propelled with compressed air.
