"...fantasy stories deal with a metaphorical description of inner conflicts; they express an inner world. More often than not, the actions of the hero in the fantasy world correspond to an inner development in reality" (p.9, l.22-25).
p.1-5: We’re introduced to the town of Wall. p.19-30: Young Dunstan attends the town fair and receives a gift: his Heart’s Desire. This gift is also bestowed upon his children and grandchildren, and so the stage is set for a story about how his son, Tristran, also went on a quest for his Heart’s Desire.

Part 2: p.316-325: We get to know who the mysterious woman is. Also, Yvaine talks to a very old enemy who wants her heart.
