Blue Rock Labs, Inc. was founded in 2014 by Kendra Adams, P.G., R.G. She has over 20 years of soils laboratory management and testing experience. Ms. Adams has worked with soils from across the globe on numerous engineering and construction projects. Blue Rock Labs, Inc. is a former member firm of GBA (Geoprofessional Business Association) and is DBE, MWBE, EBE, ESB, and SBE certified.
Her experience also includes preparing and managing quality programs for compliance with agencies such as AASHTO, A2LA, CCRL, USACE, ISO, and Perry Johnson Laboratory Accreditation. She has provided assistance and oversight for several companies on setting up and maintaining their quality/management systems.
Ms. Adams holds professional licenses in the states of Missouri and Texas. Currently, the state of Colorado does not have licensure for geologists. She graduated cum laude from the University of Missouri-Rolla (UMR), now MS&T, with a B.S. degree in Geology and Geophysics. She also received an M.S. in Geological Engineering from UMR as well.
Kendra is an active member in ASTM International. She is on three main committees, C09, D18, and E36. She is very active in Committee D18 Soil and Rock. She is a one of the Vice Chairs on the Executive Subcommittee (D18.90), providing oversight to 5 different subcommittees in D18. She is also the secretary of D18.05 Strength and Compressibility of Soils, the subcommittee chair for D18.06 on Physical and Chemical Interactions of Soil and Rock, and the subcommittee vice-chair for D18.99 Quality Control.
She has received the Richard S. Ladd Standards Development Award numerous times for her efforts in the development of revised ASTM standards. In 2019 she was awarded the A. Ivan Johnson Outstanding Achievement Award for outstanding and significant contributions to Committee D18 on Soil and Rock. In March of 2022, Ms. Adams received ASTM’s highest Society award, the Award of Merit, for distinguished service and outstanding participation. She has been granted the honorary title of Fellow of ASTM.
