Hello and Welcome to Science! My name is William Spaulding and I am excited to be teaching you or your students this school year!
I moved to Tennessee 7 years ago from Charleston, South Carolina. While in Charleston I worked in outdoor education and programming for ten years. I taught folks how to kayak, climb, canoe and mountain bike. Working outdoors and with customers of many different ages helped to shape the way I lead discovery in my classroom.
I currently live in Maryville with my wonderful wife and three children. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelors in Geology and Environmental studies and a Masters in Teacher Education, where I focused on Middle Grades Education. While at UT, I had the opportunity to work through some amazing projects. My favorite research included mapping the landing site for the Mars 2020 Perseverance rover.
I love teaching Science at Union Grove Middle School and preparing 8th Graders for High School and what lies beyond. Go Wildcats!
