Chapter IV Road Map
8.ESS1.1 - The Universe and it’s Stars: Research, analyze, and communicate that the universe began with a period of rapid expansion using evidence from the motion of galaxies and composition of stars
Learning Intentions:
Students will be able to describe the Big Bang Theory.
Students will identify and describe the evidence that supports the Big Bang Theory
Describe the different types of galaxies and identify them by their structure
Explain how stars are classified and how astronomers use a Hertzsprung-Russell Diagram
8.ESS1.2 - Earth and the Solar System: Explain the role of gravity in the formation of our sun and planets. Extend this explanation to address gravity’s effect on the motion of celestial objects in our solar system and Earth’s ocean tides
Learning Intentions:
Students will be able to describe the formation of a solar system and the role of gravity in its development
Students will be able to describe the role of gravity and inertia in the orbits of objects in space.
Students will describe the effect of gravity on Earth’s Tides
