This is a lab class designed to teach the fundamentals of the kitchen. The following topics will be covered: Cooking Terminology, Food Safety, Kitchen Safety and Proper use of cooking tools and equipment. Students will be using various cooking methods to create and demonstrate skills and knowledge learned and will also connect with their classmates by participating in group cooking competitions. THIS IS A FOOD PREPARATION CLASS.

Advanced Foods will build upon the skills learned in Beginning Foods and will promote advanced culinary techniques. Students will explore foods, diet, etiquette and customs of different cultures and will relate the history, geography and climate of a region to the foods they eat. Lab experiences will provide opportunities to prepare and taste foods from around the world. THIS IS A FOOD PREPARATION CLASS.

Students will learn about relationships and child development. Topics include: Healthy Relationships, Child Development Theories, Building Positive Parent-Child Relationships, Prenatal and Infant Care. Students will learn basic architecture and interior design principles, become familiar with design software, floor plan creation, room design and redesign, color theory and custom furniture design and selection. Projects for the class include mood and design boards to design your own spaces and spaces for others and hands-on activities such as string art.

Additionally, this course is ideal for students who need extra resources and support to reach graduation.
