Creator Highlights

This page will showcase projects from our inspired and talented BBMS students that are fresh out of the Fab Lab.  You can also learn more about how Mr. Colón, our Fab Lab Facilitator, is helping develop projects for our Middle School students.

Here is a quick video that shows the process of creating 3D Printed Apple Pencil caps for the middle schoolers!

DESIGN & INNOVATION

Students in Ms. Gomez's 7th Grade Design & Innovation class created personal logos in Adobe Illustrator. Little did they know, Ms. Gomez went to the Fab Lab to have their hard work turned into stickers using the Vinyl Printer!

They made their triumphant returns to the lab to create 3D Printed versions of famous structures utilizing different architectural styles (Gothic, Modern, etc.). They even spruced up their 3D models with a few fresh coats of paint!

FLEX Time

FLEX Time is a period where students can sign up for different academic activities as well as extra help sessions with teachers. Students from 6th, 7th, and 8th have been joining Mr. Colón in the lab and have been exploring and creating using the machines and tools they have at their disposal.

6th Grade

A curious student came to the lab with the intention of learning how a simple circuit works. With minimal help from Mr. Colón, this student was determined to expand their mind. Using a simulation on TinkerCAD in order to understand what was needed to complete the circuit, they were then able to recreate it. Discovery at its best!

Testing different batteries!

7th Grade

One member of our creative 7th Grade crew decided he wanted to create a fidget in the form of a 3D-printed switch! He reverse-engineered the design and made some iterations of his own using TinkerCAD. Through detailed planning and experimentation with sizing & design, he was able to create his perfect fidget!

8th Grade

One of our most enthusiastic creators in the 8th Grade has been working extremely hard on a project for months. He and Mr. Colón developed the design together and have been working rigorously to perfect it. With the combined experience of Mr. C and the perseverance of this determined student, one of the coolest creations to come out of the Fab Lab was finally realized.

This student is a big fan of the card game, Magic the Gathering. He set out to create a card holder that contained iconography from the game world, but one that also felt more natural. To the right are representations of their journey.
