7th Grade - Skills for Life
Drug Education Unit
This is a program designed to prevent students from using tobacco, alcohol, marijuana, inhalants, and other drugs. The program is based on reducing young people’s risky behaviors and promoting their healthy behaviors.
The goals of the drug education program are as follows:
1. To keep students from using drugs.
2. To encourage students who use drugs to quit.
3. To help students promote messages against the use of drugs.
Leadership and Conflict Management Unit
This unit focuses on violence prevention. Students will examine their reactions to peace and violence and will learn techniques to control anger. They will practice good listening skills and problem-solving skills that have the potential to benefit them for the rest of their lives.
Career Education Unit
In the career education program, students will think about who they are and assess their values, interests, skills, and aptitudes. They will think about the world of work and will begin to see a link between who they are and possible careers. They will learn about job benefits and workplace expectations. They will discover why basic skills are important to workplace success.
