The British International School Riyadh, Diplomatic Quarter, gained authorization to be an IB World School in June 2022. IB World Schools share a common philosophy—a commitment to improving the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high-quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) is an excellent choice for our students here at the British International School Riyadh, Diplomatic Quarter. The Mission of the IB is in concordance with our vision and mission of our school.
Mission Statement from the IB
“The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.”
IB Programmes are the choice of over 5400 schools in more than 150 countries and the IB Diploma Programme (the IBDP) is widely regarded as the premier international pre-university programme in the world.
An emphasis on high academic standards, and focus on international perspectives (including expertise in at least two languages and emphasis on areas of global concern), ensures increased adaptability and mobility on the part of the IBDP diploma holder – a major advantage in a globalised world.
The International Baccalaureate Organisation is not tied to any individual national programme, which enables it to maintain rigorous independent assessment standards - a reason why universities hold IBDP graduates in high regard.
Though commonly considered to be an elite qualification, any well-motivated student capable of coping with a national pre-university programme should also be able to cope with the IB diploma, provided they follow the guidance of the school.
