1.Leadership opportunities:
A. Formal leadership:
Year 12 students will be given the opportunity to lead some aspects of the school daily activities via the Student Leadership team which consists of :
Enrichment student leaders
Learning student leaders
Well-Being student leaders
House representatives
Students will go through a selection process based on a letter of application and an interview and will retain their positions until the end of the year. Leaders are encouraged to initiate project that are sustainable, where they leave a legacy for future generations to develop.
B. Informal leadership:
As part of their CAS programme, students need to take the lead in Service projects such as supporting the Enrichment programme such as sports activities, MUN club etc...students are guided by their Form tutor and the IB Coordinator in their regular CAS sessions
2. After school activities:
As part of their CAS programme, students are expected to participate in activities in school or outside school in order to maintain a balanced lifestyle. Students should engage in a range of creative activities (problem-solving and artistic) (C) physical activities (A) and service to a community. This is a compulsory part of the IB Diploma where students need to reflect on learning outcomes related to sustained contributions to the 3 strands mentioned above. More information can be found in the CAS Handbook attached HERE
3. Journeys, outdoor learning and competitions:
IB students will be able to participate in journeys such as the desert camp and other opportunities to enhance their sense of belonging to the school community and develop life skills.
Additionally, IB students are encouraged to participate in enrichment opportunities provided in school trips such as language ones, or MUN conferences, and/or in competitions such as Maths ones. These support a greater understanding of concepts and curriculum content as it requires a hands-on experience and transfer of learning to a variety of contexts. The skills developed in those activities prepare students for university life (negotiation, communication, problem-solving to name a few). Additionally, they contribute to the demonstration of super-curricular interest which carries a great weight in the success in application for some universities (engagement with the subject students want to study at university that goes beyond the classroom requirements).
