SBE Informational Tools for Parents and Families
Standard 1: Mission, Vision, and Improvement …collaboratively lead, design, and implement a district mission, vision, and process for continuous improvement that reflects a core set of values and priorities that include data use, technology, values, equity, diversity, digital citizenship, and community.
Standard 3: Equity, Inclusiveness, and Cultural Responsiveness … develop and maintain a supportive, equitable, culturally responsive, and inclusive district culture.
I worked together with a TLA classmate on creating a voice over for a video to help parents locate standards and curriculum on the bps website. Working on this activity was one of my favorites in that I was able to help create something that would be so beneficial to stakeholders needing to have the ability to find where our bps curriculum button can be accessed. I didn't realize until after I had started working on this project, how difficult it originally was to access the curriculum and it created intrinsic motivation inside of me. I looked at it from a parental perspective and it became so important to me, to make sure that parents or other stakeholders could easily access the curriculum and know what educators are teaching learners in our district. I found how technological difficulties could create barriers and that is that last thing we want.
November 2023- 35 hrs
This was a great opportunity that pushed me out my comfort zone and enabled me to speak as a leader on a lesson I redesigned and learned a great deal from. I was able to take our learning standards and have students create student friendly videos on what standards are.
I shared my Lesson Redesign at the Mentor/Mentee dinner.
Standard 3: Equity, Inclusiveness, and Cultural Responsiveness … develop and maintain a supportive, equitable, culturally responsive, and inclusive district culture.
Standard 4: Learning and Instruction … evaluate, design, cultivate, and implement coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, data systems, supports, assessment, and instructional leadership.
This practicum was also one of my favorites. I was able to be a part of a panel that spoke at the Mentor/Mentee dinner that was hosted by our district. This practicum really pushed me out of my comfort zone which is when I know I grow the most. I spoke on an activity we worked on for TLA which was a Lesson Redesign. I told of how I decided to have my students really focus on the standards and choose one that they wanted to learn and showcase by creating a video, teaching that standard. It was a hard task which caused us to use grit. I shared my story with new educators to help encourage ways for them to grow. It helped my leadership skills to grow immensely.
January 2023- 3 hrs
This mentor/mentee dinner was focused on leadership and how TLA has helped me grow as al leader and what it means to me.
I shared my thoughts on Leadership with new educators in our district.
Standard 3: Equity, Inclusiveness, and Cultural Responsiveness … develop and maintain a supportive, equitable, culturally responsive, and inclusive district culture.
Standard 4: Learning and Instruction … evaluate, design, cultivate, and implement coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, data systems, supports, assessment, and instructional leadership.
This was another one of my favorite practicum experiences. It allowed me the opportunity to share my passion for learning and leading. I was so thrilled to share how rewarding it has been to be a part of the Teacher Leader Academy. I wanted to share how easy and exciting it can be to step into a leadership role no matter where you are at currently. I also wanted new teachers to know we have all been where they are at and wanted to encourage them to be proud of how far they have come and have faith in how far they can go.
April 2023- 3 hrs
These unit slides were created for third grade teachers to use to help ensure students are getting a guaranteed and viable vocabulary throughout the district.
I was able to create Social Studies Unit Plans for our district to help with providing guaranteed and viable vocabulary.
I created vocabulary slides with definitions for all third grade teachers to use.
Standard 3: Equity, Inclusiveness, and Cultural Responsiveness … develop and maintain a supportive, equitable, culturally responsive, and inclusive district culture.
Standard 4: Learning and Instruction … evaluate, design, cultivate, and implement coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, data systems, supports, assessment, and instructional leadership.
Creating Social Studies Vocabulary Unit Plans was such a rewarding as well as eye-opening experience. I didn't realize how important it was to have guaranteed and viable vocabulary for all educators to use to help ensure all students are getting the vocabulary they need to be successful. This was a great learning experience in finding out how important it is as a district that we are making sure our Unit Plans are guaranteed and viable for all learners.
December 2022- May 2023- 30 hrs
I also had the opportunity to go over slide decks created for aide training that would be implemented to help ensure aides in our district are getting the proper training and support needed to help them be successful.
The slide decks were created by teachers from the district and I looked them over and provided feedback on them.
Standard 1: Mission, Vision, and Improvement …collaboratively lead, design, and implement a district mission, vision, and process for continuous improvement that reflects a core set of values and priorities that include data use, technology, values, equity, diversity, digital citizenship, and community.
Standard 6: Operations and Management… develop, monitor, evaluate, and manage data-informed and equitable district systems for operations, resources, technology, and human capital management.
This practicum experience was very beneficial in that it helped me to understand what is involved in making sure aides in our district are getting the proper professional development needed to ensure they are able to be successful in their role. The Special Education and English Learner department was creating resources (videos, one pagers, training templates) to support aide professional learning and teacher clarity in role responsibilities. I met with special education and EL leaders for example scenarios and feedback on the work that had been created. I think this is one of the most important tasks and was thrilled to get to be a part of this experience. Aides are one of the greatest assets in our district and we need to do whatever we can to help them feel as empowered and educated as possible in their role so as to ensure they can be as successful as possible.
August 2023- 15 hrs
I helped plan and set up for the TLA showcase for our TLA group. I helped get snacks and drinks as well as set up tables and arrange the room for each TLA team to present their information.
TLA Showcase was an opportunity to help prepare for the showcase in which TLA students would showcase their learning.
Standard 1: Mission, Vision, and Improvement …collaboratively lead, design, and implement a district mission, vision, and process for continuous improvement that reflects a core set of values and priorities that include data use, technology, values, equity, diversity, digital citizenship, and community.
Standard 4: Learning and Instruction … evaluate, design, cultivate, and implement coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, data systems, supports, assessment, and instructional leadership.
This was a fun practicum to be a part of in that I was able to get materials ready and things set up for our TLA showcase. I picked up popcorn and waters for the attendees and helped set up tables for TLA students in the boardroom. I worked with a small team to help ensure all TLA students would have a successful showcase for their audience.
