Trail Blazer Club Leader
I was so blessed to have had the opportunity to be a part of leading in a brand new school. I was able to take on new tasks to help get our new school up and functioning by taking part in different roles. Below are a some of my experiences in detail.
Created Class Families with Pinks and Blues
Standard 1: Mission, Vision, and Improvement …collaboratively lead, design, and implement a district mission, vision, and process for continuous improvement that reflects a core set of values and priorities that include data use, technology, values, equity, diversity, digital citizenship, and community.
Standard 4: Learning and Instruction … evaluate, design, cultivate, and implement coherent systems of curriculum, instruction, data systems, supports, assessment, and instructional leadership.
I was able to be on the team that created class families with students from three different elementary schools. I analyzed pink and blue cards with student information and helped place students into class families to create a group that would be successful for each teacher.

Standard 2: Ethics and Professional Norms …understand and demonstrate the capacity to advocate for ethical decisions and cultivate professional norms and culture.
Standard 7: Policy, Governance, and Advocacy… cultivate relationships, lead collaborative decision making and governance, and represent and advocate for district needs in broader policy conversations.
With opening a new school, comes new tasks at hand! I was able to create an Onboarding Staff Handbook to help give staff members a detailed overview of policies and procedures that are specific to our building. This was very insightful and helped me gain an understanding of what types of things staff members need to know to be successful in their job position.

I had the opportunity to be on the leadership team which helped me grow as a leader in my building and allowed the opportunity to offer my thoughts and ideas and put them into action. It was eye-opening to find out first hand, all the things that go into starting a new school. This has helped me grow into a confident team member in my building.
Putting a matrix system into place at a brand new school, includes creating building procedures and expectations. Also evaluating behavior data and how to improve upon and what supports are needed to be successful.

I helped create a club in our building to give students the opportunity to lead as well. I, with a team of other members, started the Trail Blazers group and we met once a month and on Thursdays with students who were chosen from this group by their teachers. These students are able to show leadership in our building as well as out in our community. I am currently a Trail Blazer Leader in my building and have continued this leader ship role as well.

I created student friendly proficiency scales that we could use for our third grade learners.

I helped plan and facilitate a script and produce a video around the importance of the safety procedures for the Elk Ridge parking lot, including pick-up and drop-off. I also reached out to a few families that would be willing to be our actors to support the modeling of safe procedures. I took part in modeling the crosswalk routines and expectations. I also helped demonstrate the accurate way to leave the lot, and safe turning locations in and around the parking lot. Then, published a final video with all information to be ready for the beginning of the year to send to parents/staff/students to best inform safe procedures.

Due to having a large amount of students needing score 4 activities and assessments, I helped create a folder of materials that could be used by 3rd-5th grade educators in our building along with educators from Silver Ranch Elementary School.
