Submission Guidelines for The Fallout Shelter

Who can submit work to The Fallout Shelter?

Only current Bishop McDevitt students may submit their work for possible publication. We require a cover letter (this can be in the body of the email) with your name, grade, homeroom number and a list of the works you are submitting along with their titles. If no titles are given Poetry Club reserves the right to title your submissions.

How do I submit to The Fallout Shelter?

All work must be submitted electronically by email to poetryclub@bishopmcdevitt.org as an attachment. Please only submit files in the following formats:

Word document (.doc) files or Google Doc

Any images or artwork must be taken with a high resolution camera

Please note that you may submit up to 2 short stories (ranging from 500-1500), and/or 5 poems (poems should be between 20-30 lines), and/or art work and photography.

When can I submit my work?

We only accept submissions during the school year from September through February 5th.

When can I expect to hear about my submission?

The Fallout Shelter is a yearly journal that will be published at the end of the academic year. Artwork or Poetry may be featured on flyers at open mic nights if submitted with enough time beforehand, so keep your eyes open. Click the link below to see past submissions to the journal.

The 108: McDevitt's Literary Magazine

Submission Guidelines for The 108:

· The 108 accepts smaller works of writing, black and white photography and artwork.

· Poems should be around 10 lines, but should not exceed 15 lines. Font and font sizes will be adjusted for formatting reasons.

· All artwork/photography should try to adhere to 5x7 dimensions of the magazine, if not, Poetry Club reserves the right to adjust the work for formatting reasons

· All submitted work not published in The 108 will be considered for Poetry Club’s larger literary journal The Fallout Shelter.
