Dual Credit is a program that allows high school students to take tuition-free college courses at Austin Community College. Not only can students get a head start on earning college credits, but courses also count for high school credit (or what we refer to as dual credit).
To qualify, first you must achieve college-ready test scores, complete the ACC High School Programs enrollment steps, and finally indicate ACC classes on your course selection sheet. You will only be registered for dual credit courses after all requirements are met. Class offerings are based on parameters set forth by the BHS master schedule, spots in the program are limited and on a first come, first served basis.
College-ready test scores can be achieved through the SAT, ACT, or TSI Assessment. Required scores:
SAT - English (480)/Math (530)
ACT - English + Reading (40)/Math (22)
English TSI Assessment - English multiple choice (945+ or 5 on the diagnostic), and Essay (5)
To start the program, you must have passing ELAR scores. Math scores are required for senior year, spring semester.
View the presentation for the 26/27 Family Information Meeting if you are interested in the program.
ACC courses are run through Austin Community College and not BISD. Please keep this and all of ACC's policies in mind when considering registration and your courses.
