Accommodations are NOT automatically applied to ACC classes just because a student has been given them through Bastrop High School. You must apply for them through ACC. Additionally, accommodations are not retroactive. Therefore, before each semester, you must log in to the AIM system and request accommodation for your classes. Note that some accommodations given by the high school, may not be given by ACC.
Instructions for Requesting Services
Make sure that you have completed all enrollment tasks (ACC application, ACCeID activation, ACCmail activation, orientation, contract).
Collect “official diagnostic documentation… from a licensed practitioner eligible to diagnose and treat your disability”, which “should include your current diagnosis, prognosis, and impact on academic performance”.
See the disability documentation guidelines for more details on requirements.
*UPDATE*: 504 plans and IEPs can be accepted as documentation if they include a diagnosis!
Complete the application for SAS Services.
You will need to log in with your ACCeID and password.
Include your official diagnostic documentation.

Check your ACCmail for an email from SAS. You will need to respond and set up an accommodation meeting.
In this meeting, you will “discuss how your disability impacts you, academic barriers & classroom accommodation requests and procedures”.
Meetings can be virtual or in person - you will specify your preference when you respond to the email. Sometimes they will just “meet” with you over email, but it depends on how busy they are.
You will be given access to AIM (the accommodation management system).
BEFORE each semester, you will log in to AIM and request accommodations for your classes.
You must do this each semester. Accommodations are NOT retroactive - they only begin after you have submitted your requests and been approved.
You DO NOT have to resubmit the application form each semester. You have been granted services in general. You just need to request them for your specific classes in the system.

After your request has been submitted and approved, AIM will generate Faculty Notification Letters.
These will be emailed to your professors.
You will also receive a copy. I would recommend showing the letters to your professors in person too, to make sure that they are aware of your accommodations.
