Private lessons are a fantastic way to invest in your child's success! By investing in this, your child will have the opportunity to learn from someone who is a professional at the same instrument. We have found some of the best teachers in the area to bring into our program to provide the best possible experience for our students. The benefits of enrolling in private lessons include:
Giving your child the best chance for success in band;
Providing the impetus for your child's lifelong enjoyment and appreciation of music and the arts;
Allowing your child to be provided with individualized instruction that goes at his/her own pace;
Providing an avenue for increased self-expression that will serve to reinforce and heighten an overall positive self-image;
Greatly reducing the chance of burnout, boredom, or indifference towards music and band (consequently, students who are in lessons tend to be more motivated to practice and continue their musical growth - many times they go on to serve their peers as student leaders of the band).
The importance of private lessons cannot be overstated. While lessons are not required, they are strongly encouraged. The 30 minutes per week your child would spend with a professional on his/her instrument is infinitely more important than the 4 hours the student spends with a band director during class! Depending upon the lesson teacher's schedule, lessons can take place before school, during band class (limited number due to space), or after school. The fee for lessons for most teachers is $18-25 per 1/2 hour paid directly to the Private Teacher.
Enrollment
To enroll in private lessons please go to the lesson staff tab under private lessons and email the lesson teacher you would like to work with. When you reach out, please cc (carbon copy) joseph.mcpherson@bisdmail.net or hunter.corder@bisdmail.net in the email so we can ensure we have a time and space available for your student's lesson. Payment and scheduling will be up to parents and lesson teachers. If your student is going to be absent the day of a lesson, it is up to you to inform the lesson teacher or pay the full price of a lesson for failing to do so.
