Law Enforcement 1 (10th Grade)
This course is an introductory course that is designed to prepare students for an exciting career in the field of law enforcement. Students will be introduced to the history of law enforcement and the advancements in this ever-changing career field. Students will begin to learn about report writing, questioning procedures, legal rights, routine police procedures, chain of command, police station operations, criminal investigations, pursuit and arrest procedures. Students will have the opportunity to meet professionals from the field and begin to participate in some basic simulated scenarios and demonstrations. Finally, students will learn about leadership and general employability skills. This course covers the foundation information needed to progress through the Criminal Justice Academy.
(Minimal) hands on & team building activities are also a part of the course. There will be times where students are required to wear athletic clothing/shoes to class in order to participate. Advanced notice will be given. Failure to dress out on these days will negatively impact the students grade.
Required items for this course: A single subject college ruled composition notebook and black pen.
Students enrolled in this course are eligible to participate in SkillsUSA. They must pay the required SkillsUSA Registration Dues if they choose to participate.
