Perkins Summary

8-7

On Saturday morning, the Garcia Gators faced their rivals, the Perkins Stallions, at Rivera. This was a fight between two teams that had nothing to lose. Garcia got off to a sluggish start, both offensively and defensively. We couldn't figure it out, Coach Salinas and I. Was it because some Garcia Gators were familiar with their opponents and didn't want to hurt them, or was it because their favorite coach was absent? (Jimenez).

In any case, Garcia went into the second half trailing Perkins 7-0. Notable mentions in the first half include Nelson's fumble recovery (pictured left).

Our defense made several stops thanks to Marcos, Simon, Nelson, Isaac, Brayden, Zeke, Anthony, Jose, Emmanuel, Leland, and Esteban.

Offensively, we had a few successes, including Brayden's 60-yard kickoff return, Anthony's drives, and Joaquin's runs.

It came down to the wire, and Garcia had the ball on the 10 yard line with 3 minutes left, trying to score. Garcia runs a 23 counter with a handoff to Zeke on 4th down. Zeke bursts through the hole for a touchdown. Garcia opts to go for the extra point. When the ball is snapped, Anthony reaches for it and sets it. Emmanuel kicks the ball as the defense rushes in. The ball flies through the air and arrives at its destination. Garcia bets and wins!!!! 8-7

Your coaches are extremely proud of each of you. You gave it your all, and next year will be a great season.
